Application guidelines

Erasmus Trustfonds opens continual calls for proposals for different types of projects that foster the growth and flourishing of Erasmus University Rotterdam and its faculties and institutions.

  • Academic staff of Erasmus University Rotterdam.

  • Representatives of student-, study- and other associations recognized by Erasmus University Rotterdam.
  • The proposed activities and projects contribute to the aim of Stichting Erasmus Trustfonds.
  • The application is complete. Please ensure you submit all required documents. To determine which documents are required, please consult the grant type specific guidelines below.
  • The application meets the co-funding requirements. To determine which co-funding requirements apply, please consult the grant type specific guidelines below.
  • The application is submitted via the application portal.
  • The application is submitted before the application deadline.

Only those applications that meet the requirements are eligible for support. Applications that do not meet the general requirements above will not be accepted.

The Stichting Erasmus Trustfonds, in principle, provides support to an individual or association no more than once every 12 months. Applications by individuals or associations who have been awarded financial support over the past 12 months, therefore are not eligible for support. Submitting more than one application within 12 months will thus result in a rejection. Applications for research projects are an exception to this rule.

Grant type specific guidelines

For each type of application, specific requirements apply in addition to the general requirements above.

  • The applicant is an academic staff member of Erasmus University Rotterdam. He/she has an employment contract at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
  • Partial funding of at least 50% is required from other sources, such as Erasmus University Rotterdam, its faculties, departments, institutes, and/or third parties.
  • The application is endorsed by a full professor and the head of the department or faculty dean.

Applications that do not meet the requirements above will not be accepted.

Erasmus Trustfonds specifically aims to support those research projects that are embedded in one of the Erasmus Initiatives. In order to demonstrate that the application is in line with this aim, applicants are encouraged to add to their application:

  • Letter of endorsement from the academic director of the Erasmus Initiative in which the project is embedded.
  • Letter of endorsement from representative of the involved societal partner.

Furthermore, projects where a contribution of the Erasmus Trustfonds can function as an accelerator to attract other third party funds, such as NWO- grants, are preferred. Should this be the case for your project, please indicate at which organisation you are applying for funds as well, what amount you have requested and in which program/call for applications.

Requests of more than €10.000,- can be assessed by the disbursement committee and independent external reviewers.
