Bequests are incredibly important and valuable to Erasmus University Rotterdam. Every year we receive several legacy gifts, both large and small. We are incredibly happy to receive these: every gift is welcome. Moreover, we don’t just receive bequests from alumni. For example, people who want to strengthen the university’s social role for the city of Rotterdam also find their way to us. This enables us to further increase our impact.

Lasting impact
By making a bequest, you can let your assets contribute to societal development even after your passing.
The Erasmus Trustfonds is designated as a ‘Public Benefit Organisation’ (PBO, or ANBI). This means that inheritance taxes are deducted from your legacy. This means that 100% of your legacy goes directly to the Erasmus Trustfonds.
Form of bequest
You can structure your support in the form of a bequest or an inheritance.
- With a bequest, you describe exactly what you bequeath to the Erasmus Trustfonds. You can also bequeath your entire estate to the Erasmus Trustfonds.
- In the case of an inheritance, the Erasmus Trustfonds is appointed as (co-)heir for a certain part of your legacy.
It is also possible to set up your own named fund through a will. In that case, the legacy stays intact because only returns on investments are made available for the objectives of your fund.
