About Erasmus Trustfonds
History
The origins of the Erasmus Trustfonds start in the early 20th century. Rotterdam was developing into a huge port, but the city still lacked its own higher education.
Rotterdam businessmen decided to found a trade school, providing the city with an institution of higher learning. They succeeded in 1913 with the establishment of the Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool. The association founded for this purpose is the legal predecessor of the Erasmus Trustfonds.
Growth and flourishing of the university
Our aim is to promote the growth and flourishing of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Together with the university, we address the societal challenges of the 21st century in the areas of healthcare, sustainable prosperity, and living together in urban areas. By creating a significant income stream as an independent fund, we can safeguard the continued development of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. This means that the university can continue to perform at the highest level.
Supervisory board, executive board and committees
The Erasmus Trustfonds is powered by the motivated people behind it. The foundation is supported by dedicated members of the supervisory board, the executive board, and the foundation’s committees. All members are selected because they provide relevant expertise. Together we enable the fund to reach its potential.
