Universities excel thanks to alumni
“I’m a life-long learner”, Soeteman-Reijnen says. “You have to keep evolving. In the United States, universities are able to excel thanks to donations from their alumni. Donors make a lot of money available for research. The Netherlands are still too modest in this area, but Rotterdam is making progress. Many alumni are proud of the Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the Erasmus Trustfonds allows a lot of people to make new connections.”
Innovation, diversity, and inclusion
That’s why Soeteman-Reijnen chose to fund a general named fund. She happily entrusts the fund’s spending to the Erasmus Trustfonds: “They make excellent choices, funding important research and individual scholarships from countries like Syria and Afghanistan. The Erasmus Trustfonds recognizes the importance of themes like innovation, diversity, and inclusion.”
